Public realm is defined as any publicly owned streets, pathways, right of ways, parks, publicly accessible open spaces and any public and civic building and facilities. The quality of our public realm is vital if we are to be successful in creating environments that people want to live and work in. Arc is the driving force for the inclusion of high quality public realm with the vast regeneration programme for Hull and the Humber regions. Since 2006 we have worked with Hull City Council to deliver its public art policy. We have, and will continue to deliver, a commissioning and design quality awareness programme for the regions we serve. We have two distinct operational strands; advocacy and project management. We facilitate seminars for art professionals, council members, the public and students and a mentoring programme for the latter. We have also engaged in commissioning programmes with Hull City Council, Yorkshire Forward, and other local regeneration agencies. From our beginning we have strived to enable the cohesion of excellent public realm and we have continued to go from strength to strength. We are continuing to raise the bar through involving not just the client in the commissioning process but the secondary client as well. Our 2010/11 programme will continue to build on this process and see Arc as the heart of public realm in the region. Download a copy of our brochure, or read about our current projects. |
