United Creatives will work alongside the architect to integrate public art into the new build creating a 'living building' that will enhance the area. The main part of the commission concentrates on the public areas and specifically the community café area. The commission is described as "An explosion of integrated public art within the public realm within the cafe with the shrapnel occurring throughout the building". The projects include creating a brand identity and name for the project, an outdoor flooring scheme and interior manifestations. The project is expected to be complete in spring 2011. |

• Whitefriargate - Art in Empty Spaces Working with Hull City Council and the Shop Front initiative, Arc has commissioned four artists to each have a 10-week installation in the windows of the empty shops on Whitefriargate, and using the street as a gallery to exhibit their work. The first commission, by artist Pinky, ran from May - August 2010, and reflected the return of the Clipper in the form of banners across the street and designs on the windows. The second commission, from Andrew Kearney, ran from 3 September - 5 November 2010, and celebrated the annual Freedom Festival. The exhibition comprised of dynamic installations, including sculptural street banners and dioramas within the empty shop units. The third commision, from Raphael Daden, ran from 26 November 2010 - 4 February 2011, which saw lightboxes, projections and neon sculptures lighting up the street. The fourth artists are Hsiao-Chi Tsai & Kimiya Yoshikawa. Opening on 25 February 2011, their installation will see three unusual large-scale dynamic sculptures titled 'Rainbow-Friargate' arrive on Whitefriargate's streetscape, inspired by the seaport character of Hull.
