Kenneth Noel Baker

The Arc team were saddened this week to hear of the passing of member Kenneth Noel Baker.

Ken (pictured, left) was a respected local architect. He designed a university in Nigeria and his other projects included the late Northern Dairies building (testament to his keen sense of humour was the fact that he also swung the 'wrecking ball' when this building was demolished!). From 2003-2007 Ken worked as 'Thornton Design'. His practice was based in the Goodwin development trust, and his projects focused on social regeneration projects such as the Octagon neighbourhood centre and surestart nurseries.

Involved with Arc before it was even established, Ken became a keen member, attended countless events and supported the organisation in it's earliest days. He was also an active member of Hull's civic society since it's inception. The Arc team will remember him as a kind, patient gentleman who was very respected for never being afraid to voice his opinion!

We would like to offer our sincere condolences to his family and friends at this sad time.
