2011 exhibition - 'Sustainability - the bigger picture' We are very excited to announce that we are now welcoming submissions to our third annual exhibition of regional architecture. Following successful 'Architecture on Our Doorstep' exhibitions in 2009 and 2010, this year's exhibition is called 'Sustainability: The Bigger Picture'. For this year's exhibition we are extending the invite to not just architects and landscape architects but also to interior designers and 3rd year, graduate and postgraduate architecture students whose designs have affected or could affect the architecture of the Humber region. 'Sustainability: the bigger picture' will encompass work completed, in progress, or unrealised, which highlights aesthetics, construction or maintenance of sustainable buildings. Practices/individuals are encouraged to supply additional material (postcards/business cards/sketchbooks) giving further detail of their work. Submissions must adhere to the guidelines set out in the exhibition brief, which contains full details as well as an entry form. Submissions must reach Arc on or Before Friday 9th September 2011. Download a copy of the exhibition brief and entry form (191 KB) Further details can also be obtained by contacting Emma Dolman at Arc on (01482) 280033 or by emailing enquiries@arc-online.co.uk Once again, this exhibition is kindly sponsored by NPS Humber Ltd.
2010 exhibition - 'Drawing board' 'Drawing board' has so far been shown at the Arc city pavilion in December 2010, followed by a variety of venues across the sub-region in 2011: Hull School of Art and Design, Hull Community Junction at Hull Paragon Station, Bridlington Spa Gallery and Grimsby Central Library. 'Drawing board' encompasses work completed, in progress, or unrealised, which highlights the drawings and notes made when a project idea is in its inception - the creativity, the scribbles and notes that ensue before fingers hit computer keyboard, and plans are drawn up formally. The exhibition is now touring the region and will be shown at the following places in 2011: Waters' Edge visitor centre, Barton upon Humber from 9 - 21 August (open Monday - Sunday, 10am-5pm) Arc are offering exclusive free loan of the exhibition to galleries, schools, colleges and any interested public venue. If you are interested in showing it at your venue, please contact us.
2009 exhibition - 'Architecture on our doorstep' With sponsorship from NPS Humber, Arc put together this exhibition of regional architects' work. The aim is to showcase designs, both realised and unrealised, by local architect practices. The exhibition aims to support local built environment professionals, and through it Arc hope to raise awareness of their work to local professionals, schools and the general public. The exhibition successfully ran at Arc from 22nd September - 9th October and attracted 188 members of the public, including a preview evening which was very well attended. The visitor statistics revealed that the exhibition was particularly of interest to schools and college groups, for example students of the new Architecture course at the Hull School of Art and Design. The exhibition has since been shown at Hull College, in the School of Art and Design, and also Hull Community Junction in Hull's Paragon station.
